A fly brain, fully traced, wired to a shotgun

Researchers mapped all 139,255 neurons and 54.5 million synapses of a fruit fly's brain. This one has been plugged into Doom and left on the couch. The console on the right is live: drag a circuit down and watch its aim fall apart.

Neuron and synapse counts are from the FlyWire whole-brain connectome of Drosophila melanogaster, published in 2024. Cell-type names are real; what they are doing here is not. No fly was consulted.
